Our Management Team

Guy began his career as an office junior at Lees Lloyd Whitley Solicitors, later becoming a conveyancing assistant before transitioning into civil litigation. In the 1980s and 90s, he worked with several Liverpool law firms before settling into a litigation executive role at Thomas Higgins Solicitors, a national commercial debt litigation firm.

While pursuing a law degree at Liverpool JMU, Guy started drafting Bills for solicitor friends. What began as a side project quickly grew, leading him to shift focus from his original plan of opening a law firm to pursuing legal costing full-time.

In 2000, Guy founded Law Costing Ltd in Hamilton Square, Birkenhead. The company flourished and became one of the UK’s leading legal costs firms. Guy now focuses on leading the negotiation department, occasionally returning to drafting when necessary.

Stacey started her career as a payroll clerk within a Wallasey firm of Chartered Accountants. Having worked her way up the accounting ladder Stacey opted for a change of direction and joined LCL in 2007.

Stacey quickly became office manager which involved client liaison, bookkeeping, HR and general management.

Due to Stacey’s efficiency and work ethic she was offered (and accepted) Directorship and since has assumed responsibility for a number of additional roles within the business and continues to be an invaluable member of the management team.

Mike started his career as an office junior at Norman Jones Solicitors, where he quickly moved from photocopying to assisting with Green Forms, then drafting Legal Aid and Inter-partes Bills of costs. He also gained experience in the Accounts Department, developing a strong understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules.

After further roles at D P Roberts Hughes and Denye, Mike joined Law Costing Ltd at 26. Over the years, he has adapted to the evolving legal costs landscape, continuing to draft high-value Multi Track Bills and various legal documents for clients across diverse sectors, including police claims, abuse cases, housing, clinical negligence, probate, and debt.

Outside of work, Mike is often on the go as a taxi for his children and enjoys watching his son play football, going to the gym, listening to music, and supporting the All Blacks.

Tanya, originally from Ukraine, earned her Law degree from the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University. She began her career at the State Tax Inspectorate, handling legal documentation and representing the Tax Office in court. She was later headhunted to become the Lawyer and Head Legal Advisor for Kharkiv National Medical University, where she handled clinical negligence defense, contracts, employment issues, and court representation. She also provided legal advice to staff and students and lectured on Ukrainian legislation in multiple languages.

After relocating to the UK with her husband, Tanya began working for the Citizens Advice Bureau in Birkenhead, first as a receptionist, then as a Legal Adviser after completing courses in British law.

Since July 2011, Tanya has been with Law Costing Ltd, where she drafts and negotiates various legal costs documents, including Bills of Costs and Points of Dispute, and works on Part 8 proceedings and cost assessments. She has also provided legal advice to Reprieve, a human rights organisation, on overseas capital punishment cases.

Outside of work, Tanya enjoys traveling, theatre, musicals, detective stories, countryside walks with her husband and dogs, and man-trailing with her Black Russian Terrier, Eddie.

After completing his A-levels, Dan began a career in accountancy but soon realised the lifestyle wasn’t for him. He then received an unexpected offer to work as a Costs Draftsman at a law firm, which he accepted.

Dan joined Law Costing Ltd, where he specialises in bill drafting, costs budgets, and costs negotiations. He also drafts Replies and Points of Dispute. His key areas of expertise include claims against the police and housing disrepair.

Dan is known for delivering top-quality drafting work and advice. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, keeping fit (including boxing training), and supporting Tranmere Rovers.
